Great organizations must know who they strive to be in order to determine how to get where they need to go. East Valley Water District (District) Board of Directors unanimously voted to update the District’s Strategic Plan with a new Vision at the April 8 Regular Board Meeting. This milestone is part of the District’s continued effort to serve the community through world class public service.
“In early 2012, we developed a broad vision incorporating a host of strategies to serve as a road map for District priorities and programs,” said James Morales, Jr., Chairman of the District’s Board of Directors. “We have now set the bar even higher in order to foster an environment that not only provides water and wastewater services, but one that strives to enhance and preserve the quality of life for our community.”
District staff conducted planning meetings in February 2015 to develop a revised District Vision that not only reflects current efforts, but clearly establishes expectations looking forward. The draft document was presented to the Board of Directors at a Special Meeting on March 18, where additional comments were incorporated. As a result of multiple collaborative sessions the following guiding principles were developed:

CORE VALUES

“Every decision that we make at all levels of the organization are based on our District Vision,” said John Mura, General Manager/CEO. “By setting these expectations we can encourage staff to be active participants in operations while looking for opportunities to make a positive impact on the people that we serve.”
